Why this exists
Wet food is labeled in kcal per can. Dry food in kcal per cup. Treats are "just a few." Nobody hands you the arithmetic that connects them. BowlMath does exactly that one job: label numbers in, a daily bowl plan out.
Who builds it
BowlMath is built and maintained by Marcel Ruettgers, an independent product builder based in Amsterdam, and a cat household veteran. It is a small, focused tool, not a content farm. You can reach him through marcelruettgers.com.
Where the math comes from
The calculator uses widely published resting-energy and maintenance-calorie formulas, and the treat guidance follows the Cornell Feline Health Center recommendation that treats stay under roughly 10 percent of daily calories. Weight-management guidance references the AAHA nutrition and weight management guidelines.
What BowlMath is not
BowlMath is not veterinary advice. It gives a practical starting estimate. Body condition, health changes and your veterinarian's guidance always win over a calculator.
Feedback
The fastest way to improve BowlMath is telling us where it fails you. Use the feedback box inside the calculator, or get in touch via marcelruettgers.com.
