How we worked out the cost per day

Ollie publishes weekly prices, so we divide by 7 and round to the cent. At $22 a week, that is about $3.14 a day. The Farmer's Dog publishes per day figures, so we show them as given and never split the two dog example.

We do not compare calories per dollar, because we have not checked the calorie content of either brand's recipes.

Which one costs less?

Based only on the starting prices above:

  • If you want to mix fresh food with your dog's current food, Ollie's half fresh plan has the lowest published weekly entry price: $15 a week for a small dog.
  • For a full fresh diet, the lowest starting figure either brand states is about $2 a day, from The Farmer's Dog, which does not say which dog that price is for. Ollie's full fresh plan starts at $22 a week for a small dog, about $3.14 a day.
  • The Farmer's Dog does not publish prices by dog size, so the published figures cannot be compared size by size. A quote for your own dog is the only fair comparison.
